The contributions of a foremost socio-cultural organization and pressure group in the state, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, to the advancement of unity and peaceful coexistence in Akwa Ibom State have been applauded by the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke.
This Speaker told members of the group on Monday when the paid him a courtesy visit in his office that “Mboho has believed in the unity of this state”. The Speaker stated further that “although Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio is of a particular ethnic group, the group extends to other ethnic groups in the state. Mboho does not believe in oppression, ethnicity, and division.”
While expressing appreciation to the group for the visit, Rt. Hon Luke, himself a member of Mboho, thanked the organisation for the support they have always given to leaders of the state starting from the past administration of Arch. Obong Victor Attah to that of Chief Godswill Akpabio, and lauded their decision to queue behind Governor Udom Emmanuel, pointing out that this was the only way the continuous unity and peaceful coexistence of the people would be sustained.
Earlier, the International President, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Mkparawa Elder Monday EtokAkpan, said members of Mboho were in the Speaker’s office to show solidarity with one of their own. He congratulated Akparawa Luke on his elevation as Speaker of the House, and assured him of their cooperation and support. He expressed confidence that under the watch of Speaker Luke, laws made by the House will impact positively on the lives of the people, and as well as see to the good governance of the state.
The Mboho President used the opportunity restate their support to the administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel and assured of Mboho’s continuous contributions to the development of the state at all times. Lawmakers present during the visit include, Deputy Speaker, Princess Felicia Bassey, Itu member, Akparawa Idongesit Ituen among others
