Members of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District are poised to build an Ecumenical Centre” where all Christians from different denominations can congregate to propagate the Gospel message. The Chairman, Rev. Abraham Abraham stated this in an interview with newsmen in his office on last weekend. According to Rev. Abraham, the organization intends to raise N250 million in a fund launch on Friday, 12th February, 2016 at the Ikot Ekpene Town Hall by 10am for this cause. In addition to building a befitting Ecumenical Centre, the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of CAN also plans to procure a Coaster Bus for effective evangelism in the area.
It should be recalled that for a very long time now, Christianity has been bastardized and rendered of non-effect in the state, the country and Africa at large, which is why the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Chapter of CAN, has made it a point of duty to amalgamate all the Christian Churches into one fold through the building of a Centre that will house and shelter the various denominations.
The event according to the Chairman, will feature a colourful presentation of several awards in honour of deserving icons, sons and daughters of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and beyond among whom are: His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, distinguished Senator and Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, CON; Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke – Speaker House of Assembly; His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo; Arch Bishop Cletus Bassey, CAN Chairman, Akwa Ibom State; Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien; Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio; Dr./Mrs Glory Edet – Commissioner for Women Affairs; Sir Etekamba Umoren (SSG), Sir Sunday Udo Akpan (KJW); Pastor Nicholas Ekarika; Very Rev. Otuekong Ukut; Obong Emmanuel Ukpong Udo; Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen; Engr. Etido Inyang; Pastor Anietie Ukpe – DG, AKBC; Elder Chidi OLuka (GM NTA, Uyo); Bishop Camillus Etokudoh; His Eminence Prelate Sunday Mbang. Others are Mr. Aniekan Umanah; Barr. Enoidem; Hon.
