… As sit-at-home tightens

In compliance with the sit-at-home order of the Akwa Ibom State Government restricting vehicular movement and that of persons within the shores of the state as a means of contending the deadly virus, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Imohimi Edgal led other service Chiefs in the State including immigration, Army, Civil Defence, Customs, SSS on effective monitoring today Sunday April 5, 2020.
The team, which traversed the length and breadth of Uyo metropolis, discovered the general understanding displayed by church leaders in obeying the directives of the state government of shutting down their churches for the safety of members and the general public during the scourge.
In his observation, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Imohimi Edgal who also is the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Task Force on the restriction of movement order while commended churches and church leaders in the state for being law-abiding franked at few churches who were seen carrying out skeletal meetings told them to obey the order in its totality as failure to do so, the Task Force would be forced to seal off those churches, “some of us here are Christians, is not that we are witch-hunting the churches, no, we want total obedient to the order so as to keep the people of Akwa Ibom safe and sound”, the Police Boss noted.
CP Imohimi Edgal himself who was acting in accordance with the IGP directives for all officers to be civil was very humane in approach to members of the public including the some of the erring pastors.
Our reporter who observed that the residents of Uyo were in total compliance to the government order as everywhere was peaceful and quiet, places hitherto usual very busy such as the plaza by Aka, Oron, Abak and even Barracks roads; churches were under lock and key exception of few defiances who were accosted by security personnel who manned several roadblocks in almost every U-turn within the metropolis.
