CP Akpan Assumes Office As Bayelsa Police Boss

The Bayelsa State Police Command has got a new Commissioner of Police (CP) in the person of CP Nkereuwem Akpan.

The command’s spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat, who announced this in a statement on Friday in Yenagoa, said the new commissioner assumed duty on Thursday. He said: “The command wishes to inform the general public and well-meaning individuals in the state that a new commissioner of police has been posted to the state. He is CP Nkereuwem Akpan; he takes over from CP Uche Anozia. Until the new CP’s present posting, he was the Commissioner of Police, Cross Rivers State Command. He has served in various commands and formations at various capacities. The command by this announcement solicits the cooperation and partnership of the good of Bayelsa with the new commissioner of Police.”

Describing the person of the CP, the statement noted, “he is a seasoned Police Officer with proven skills in Operations and Administration and had served in various commands and formations at various capacities. The Command by this announcement solicits the cooperation and partnership of the good and well-meaning people of Bayelsa State. This is to accord the new Commissioner of Police the necessary support he would need in the task of maintaining peace, law and order in the State,” the PPRO said.
