Divine consultation, Akwapoly Leadership Prays for Peace

         The prayer of a positive thinker has yielded a positive atmosphere for better things in Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic as timely prayers were offered at the solemn assembly held in the school auditorium recently.

           The solemn assembly organized by the management of the school tagged, “DIVINE CONSULTATION” brought to light the desire of the acting Rector, Dr Moses Umobong to lead the polytechnic to a greater horizon. Dr Umobong pointed out that God is the source, the beginning and the holder of all good things and so thought it wise to trail-blaze his task with him, stating that, “If not for God, I won’t have been here”.

             The intensity of the prayers offered in the event suggested the approval of God Himself of the new management as the zest to arise from the dungeon to the hill top caused both management team, academic board members, students of the institution and effectively represented chiefs and members of the Ikot Osurua community to pray out their hearts to God after the sermon which was tagged, ‘’NEW BEGINNING, NEW THINGS”.  The guest minister, Reverend Idongesit Inyang, who read from the book of Isaiah 43:14-21,  Inyang took time to expatiate the Word of God to understanding of the audience as he also used the medium to prophesy and pray for the progress, peace and prosperity of the Polytechnic.

               Progressing in the prayer was the one led by the Head of Mass Communication Department, Mr Daniel Evans Eshett. He prayed fervently for the peace of the state and the nation at large. This also led to the prayer for the peaceful election in the state and in the nation, Nigeria by Dr Lionel Ukoka, Dean, school of communication arts. He prayed vehemently for free and fair election in Nigeria.

                In his remarks, the acting Rector, Dr. Moses Umobong harped on issues concerning examination, school fees portal and staff welfare. He stressed on timely posting of result which raised a laudable ovation from the students. He also emphasized closing school fees portal on 21ST February as he assured the students of a semester fees rather than the compulsory session fees for those who could afford a session fees at an instance. This however brought a serious repugnant on the faces of students.

               The Rector beseeched the staff to take advantage of the available medium for promotion and welfare benefits, “There is no way you can be promoted if you don’t partake in the academic activities”. He Moses promised the return of the NBTE (National Board for Technical Education)  to the institution for more accreditation  and also vowed to operate an open door leadership policy for both the staff and students. He encouraged the President of the Student Union Government, Comrade Evelyn Ewa to do her best in co-operating with the management.

                 Many dignitaries were present to grace the occasion, the former Rector, Dr (Barr) Israel Affia, whose presence brought joyous echoes; the Registrar, Dr (Mrs.) Mary Ndah; Deans of schools, Heads of Departments, the village head of Ikot Osurua, Chief Lawrence Umoh and other cabinet members, academic and non-academic staff and a cross section of students of the Polytechnic.

Highlights of the event included prophetic declaration taken by the acting chairman, governing council, Elder Samuel Edet; Scripture reading followed as the acting Rector, Dr Moses Umobong took the lead; Prayer session was led by powerful men and women of God led several prayer points which actually were the nub of the gathering. Prayer for the peace of the Polytechnic was taken by Elder Sunday Akpan; Pastor (Mrs) Mercy Umokaso prayed for the management team and the governing council for co-operation. Another prayer point for the Academic Board Members of the Polytechnic was handled by Dr Unwana Udoette while the students were not left unsprayed for as Reverend Uduak Essien, a woman of scriptures quoted many portions of the bible to one of such was Ecclesiastics 3:1-3. She also ceased the privilege to exhort the students to always show business expatiate. Prayer for the host community was led by Mr John Iko for peace and co-operation the polytechnic.
