… Cries out for Help

A middle-aged woman, Janet Effiong Ebong has called on the wife of Akwa Ibom State governor, Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel in her trademark benevolence through her pet project, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-Initiative (FEYReP) and the Honorable Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen whom she described as ‘the eye of Governor Udom Emmanuel’ to come to their aid of giving them life for the first time in their life, “I have heard a lot on what the governor’s wife and the Commissioner are doing for the less privileged people, I will be happy if such gesture reach me in this my condition I may not have anything to give to them but will be praying for them”.
Janet, a petty trader who lives with her eight siblings and nine other children after the demise of their father in 2016 said that she was born to inherit the hut her late father built some decades ago has never lived in a modern structure since she was born and that the building they occupy presently is at the mercy of the wind and rain as it is at the stage of collapse.
The thatched hut on a dilapidated steeply-pitched gable roof which is thatched with overlapping palmetto fronds of rude mud wall with logs and boulders, which is located at Ikot Ebom Itam in Itu local government area adjacent to Primary School, Ikot Ebom Itam near the defunct Quality Ceramics Limited.
It is no more news but is on record that the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel has touched many lives since 2015 till date in providing shelter to Akwa Ibom people christened, Shelter of hope across the 31 local government areas accompanied with empowerment packages, beneficiaries in some local governments so far have has risen to three each. It is also on record that her Excellency’s benevolence increased the joy of Madam Mary Etim Akpan of Itam in Itu LGA.
