HOCS enjoins staff to be hard working

The Head of the State Civil Service, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan, has charged staff to be hardworking and dedicated to duties in order to excel in the service.

Mrs. Akpan, who gave the charge last Tuesday in her maiden meeting with the staff in her office,  commended them for being punctual and exhibiting the right attitude to work, adding that one’s attitude to work determines how far the person could go in the service.

She described the civil service as the bedrock of the society, and admonished civil servants to be dedicated to duties; conceal official secrets; maintain their personal and service integrity; and be guided by the rules guiding the civil service in all their dealings.

The Head of Civil Service informed the staff that she intends to implements civil service rules to the letter in her efforts to ensure a vibrant and result-oriented service for optimal productivity.

Mrs. Akpan appealed to the staff to rise up in the dakkada spirit and work for the success of the present government, stressing that her office was always open for constructive ideas in order to take the civil service to the next level.

She commended Governor Emmanuel for believing in her and giving her the opportunity to be the lead singer of the dakkada song in the civil service, calling on civil servants to also key into it and rise to greatness.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the office, Mrs. Eno P. Offiong, congratulated the Head of Civil Service on her merited appointment as the fifth Head of Civil Service and the third consecutive female occupant of the office, expressing confidence that Mrs. Akpan would build on the foundation already laid by her predecessors and assured her of the cooperation and support of the staff to enable her succeed.

Assistant Director in the office Mr. Joseph Esidem congratulated the Head of Civil Service on her appointment, and informed her of the staff resolve to be role model for others to emulate. She assured her of the staff’s cooperation and commitment to work.

 As 2016 draws near, Akwa Ibom government will soon present its budget cataloging programmes and development projects to Akwa Ibom House of Assembly for implementation.
