The International President, Mboho Nto Annang in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Itorobong Patrick Enang has called on the people of Annang to come together under one umbrella to work for the peace, unity and development of the community.
The President made the call while delivering his speech on the Sendforth/Award ceremony held at the old chapel of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Complex in Uyo on last week. Mr. Itorobong who stressed that there is a greater need for members of the community to always identify themselves with each other to foster a high level of unity for the progress of the group, “We expect greater synergy in matters that pertain to Annang people in the Assembly Service without which our name will not be prominent in this arm of government” he said.
According to him, the group is aimed to foster unity among all the local government in Annang and to exhibit a high sense of responsibility in various level of deployment in the Assembly Service.
Mr. Enang who is an internal auditor in the Assembly Service Commission, noted that a true Annang man is always known to be honest, hardworking in every aspects of endeavour, “It is obvious that a true Annang man or woman is known to be hardworking, honest, dependable, visionary and supports any good cause. Hence, the Association stands out to be the rallying point for other ethnic groups in the State House of Assembly to emulate” He said.
While he thanked the outgone Lawmakers, Member Abak, Rt. Hon. Friday Iwok and Member Ukanafun Hon. Otobong Jonathan Akpan for their wise counsel and support for the group, also cited the challenges of the association to include, difficulty to establish working capital for registered multi-purpose corporative society, inability to equip Secretariat with computers and modern office equipment and production of 2020 almanac.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of award of Excellent to Former Lawmaker Rt. Hon. Friday Iwok, Hon. Otobong Jonathan for their humanitarian services to the association by the Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs Mandu Umoren.
Receiving the award, Rt. Hon. Friday thanked the group for the recognition and pledged its readiness to continue providing necessary support for the association to get to its greater height. Also receiving an award includes Gift Ekpe.
The event had in attendance Chairman Abak local government, Mr. Imoh Williams, Clerk of the House, Mrs Mandu Umoren, Cashier of the House, Mr. Monday Akpan, Director of Administration, Mr. Ime Mofat. Others are, PASSAN chairman Comrade Etinwa, secretary of the association, Sunday Akpanadaka among others.
