A new village head for Ikot Ekpuk Itam, Itu Local Government Area has emerged, he is Chief Aniedi James Akpan. Chief Akpan who was crowned recently by the nine communities that made up his territory of jurisdiction thanked his people for finding him worthy of trust and promised to be a true leader to all.
Chief Akpan while chatted with Century Newsfront last Sunday said that he is a leader who has the interest of his people at heart, adding that he will liaise with other stakeholders from his community to draw the state government attention to develop his community through construction of federal roads as well as engaging the youths in gainful ventures.
He maintained that none can lead a community in isolation, he called on all people of Ikot Ekpuk Itam to unite and co-operate with him to take the community to a greater level of development. The Monarch added that he is at the moment working on security and called on everybody that has genuine helpful suggestion and ideas to come on board. Akpan stressed that his leadership is not for a segmented few but for all people of Ikot Ekpuk Itam and promised that anything that will come from government or other channels will be distributed to all without exemption.
While congratulating the state governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, the government and people of the state on the 28th Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, He termed the emergence of the governor as an act of God and said that governor Udom is a capable hand who can adequately consolidate on the uncommon transformation of the out gone administration. He said that the twenty-eight years of Akwa Ibom State creation have seen many development, though many things are yet to be done as captured in his word “Although we are no longer at where we used to be, we certainly have not reached the place we are going”. He prayed for the governor’s success, called on all residents of the state to join hands with the governor and take the state to her desired Eldorado.
Akpan also thanked Governor Emmanuel for appointing Itu indigenes into important positions in his government and charged the appointees to be good ambassadors of Itu Local Government. While calling on the government to come to their aid to complete some roads in the areas that were abandoned by NDDC since 2010, he thanked the Commissioner of Finance, member representing Itu in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Idongesit Ituen as well as the Chairman of Itu Local government Transition Committee, Mr. Okon Okon for accepting his victory, prayed for God’s protection on their lives.
