From the creation of man, time is the ageless asset given by nature. It was on this note that John Burroughs, a philosopher posited thus, “I crave and seek a natural explanation of all phenomena upon this earth, but the word ‘natural’ to me implies more than mere chemistry and physics. The birth of a baby and the blooming of a flower are natural events, but the laboratory methods forever fail to give us the key to the secret of either.”
Born some years ago in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Saviour Ekpe holds a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Journalism and has over 15 years’ experience as a media executive. He is member of various professional notable bodies including, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) where he is the State Auditor in the present State Working Committee (SWC). By dint of hard work, he is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Oralmedia Communications, a media conglomerate that publishes Century Newsfront Newspapers (a weekly tabloid); former Chairman of Newsfront Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ); a-one-time President of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.
It was Abdul Kalam who pictured this when he said, “where there is righteousness in the heart, there is beauty in the character. When there is beauty in the character, there is harmony in the home. When there is harmony in the home, there is order in the nation. When there is order in the nation, there is peace in the world. As a man of destiny with an excellent character, recently during the 2018 Annual National Leadership Conference of the Institute of Corporate Leadership and Mentorship which took place at the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, information drive, Uyo, with the theme, “Re-defining Your Leadership Techniques for Organization’s Effectiveness”, he was inducted as one of the key members.
During the conference, a key-note paper presenter, Dr. (Mrs.) Rosalyn Essien, wife of the Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo, who is also a fellow of the Institute did justice to the theme; “Redefining Your Leadership Techniques For Organization’s Effectiveness”.
She exposed the participants to the nitty-gritty of leadership to include being a good listener, mastering of all forms of communications, being creative, innovative and always delegating duties to employees, among others, stressed that all leaders are good managers but not all managers are good leaders”. The President of the body, Pastor Emmanuel Eduongo, expressed gratitude to God for bringing the institute this far since its inception in 2017, “it is exactly one year since our esteemed organization, Institute of Corporate Leadership and Management was inaugurated in an elaborate event on November 30, 2017 at the Multi-purpose Hall, Governor’s Office Annex, Uyo”.
According to him, “running any organization in a highly competitive environment could be more challenging and tasking, but within the one year period of operation as an institute, remarkable progress has been recorded by creating awareness of the existence of the Institute as one of the professional capacity building platforms in Nigeria.” In an interaction with newsmen shortly after the event, Pastor Saviour Ekpe expressed joy to the Almighty God and the leadership of the organization for founding him worthy of the induction as one of its members, he promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear for a greater productivity in the body.
An outstanding leader of note, focused and always zealous to any given duty, Pastor Ekpe even before his induction into the apex leadership organization has demonstrated his gentlemanly disposition and practical approval of issues of diligent administration, leadership, mentorship, high moral and academic discipline in different capacities. His brilliant activities and interactions with people have portrayed him as a man of respect, impartiality, vitality and accountability. Accountability in this context is the obligation to answer for any responsibility that is being conferred upon a person, in other words, those who are charged with the responsibility of executing policy should be obliged to give explanations of their actions to the members of the organization or the general public.
According to Vladimir Putin, “We need business to understand its social responsibility, that the main task and objective for a business is not to generate extra income and to become rich and transfer the money abroad, but to look and evaluate what a businessman has done for the country, for the people, on whose account he or she has become so rich.” Interestingly, as a father and a devoted Christian, he knows how to balance his public life with his Christian Faith. Some say he has worked very hard at ensuring the concurrent development of both. Over the years, he has maintained perfection in his service to humanity; as a preacher of the gospel, he has also ensured growth in his ecclesiastical life.
