… Crowns Uko-akpan Ambassador of President Jonathan campaign

The Special Adviser to the president on Political Matters, Prof. Rufai Alkali has commended Akwa Ibom State for acknowledging and appreciating the giant strides of President Jonathan in transforming Nigeria by garnering support for his re-election in 2015.
Prof. Alkali stated this at the Akwa Ibom presidential rally for Jonathan 2015 and flag-off of the “I pledge my vote for Jonathan initiative” organized by the Grassroots Volunteers Movement in Uyo recently. Represented by Ambassador Raphael Horsefall, the president Aide noted that the state was blessed with a visionary leader who was replicating the president’s achievements said Akwa Ibom State had earned a vantage position in the presidency by having the highest number of NGOs and support groups canvassing to return the president in the 2015 polls. He commended the leadership of the Grassroots Volunteers Movement for their hardwork and tenacity and crowned UkoAkpan Cultural Troupe – Ambassador of President Jonathan saying the group will perform at all the campaign rallies of the President.
In his address, the chairman Board of Trustees of the Grassroots Volunteers Movement, Prince Sunny Ekanem said the group was a unique socio-political organization with the sole aim of identifying and supporting the emergence of articulate, dynamic, performing and credible candidates for the 2015 elections.
Prince Ekanem noted that the GVM had adopted President Jonathan as their Principal and candidate because of his numerous achievements which had resulted in an unprecedented improvement in all sectors of the Nigerian economy and reiterated the group’s resolve to use all the resources at their disposal to return the President to office in 2015.
The National President of the Grassroots Volunteers Movement, Chief Ibanga Ekanem maintained that sustained development could only be ensured through continuity added that the group would only support the emergence of the best candidates through the polls. The President revealed that the group was intensifying its ongoing activities and strategies to ensure that the electorate were properly guided and well informed in their choices while encouraging members to be unweavering in their allegiance as their sacrifices would not go unrewarded.
Others who spoke included the National Women Leader of the group, Hadjia Hauwa Kabir and Emmanuel Sunday who spoke for the youths and students’ wing of the group. They all pledged their commitment to canvassing for the votes of Nigerian women, youths and students for their revered principal. The well attended rally which witnessed a large turnout of hundreds of supporters of President Jonathan also had in attendance coordinators of the Grassroots Volunteers Movement from all the states of the federation and the diaspora and featured the official kick off of the “I pledge my vote for Jonathan 2015” campaign.
