The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Works, Mr, Ephraim Inyang has tasked Engineers in the State to maintain high standard of professional practices and uphold strictly to the ethics of their profession as their contributions in the development of any society cannot be over emphasized.
Mr, Ephraim Inyang made the call recently at the Conference Room of Ministry of Works while receiving in audience the Executive and members of the Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Akwa Ibom State chapter on a courtesy visit.
The Works Commissioner urged Engineers to always strive to create new dimension and be ready to partner with the present administration in its drive to industrialize the State.
He said the actualization of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s industrial revolution of the state is premised upon the professional inputs of the Engineers which are catalysts for the production and maintenance of industry’s facilities.
Mr, Inyang stated that most of the factories that are not doing well are as the result of the fact that Engineers are not contributing meaning-fully to the production and Maintenance of the organizational policies.
The Commissioner of Works therefore assured the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers of the Ministry’s supports and contribution to her members Welfare, training and sponsorship of programmes in line with professional best practices.
The Commissioner Promised the Ministry’s support to the chapter planned Inauguration and induction of her state Pioneer Chairman-Engr. Ekerette Usak.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ifreke Ekpa who described Engineers as worthy partners in the movement towards the industrial transformation of Akwa Ibom State, noted that their partnership with the state Ministry of Works will open new vistas of investment opportunity in the State.
Earlier the state pioneer Chairman of the Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Engr. Ekerete Usak said they were at the Ministry to invite the Honourable commissioner, Mr Ephraim Inyang to the chapter inauguration and induction ceremony of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter Chairman of Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers. explained that the inauguration will be preceded by a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State Mr, Udom Emmanuel and will be declared opened by the National Chairman of the Institution, Engr. (Prof) Adisa Bello while Engr. (Dr) Donatus Uko, Head of Mechanical Department University of Uyo will deliver the inauguration lecture.
The State Chapter Chairman, Engr. Usak therefore appealed to the Honourable Commissioner for payment of the Institutions registration fees to her members, as well as, to sponsor them to attend national conferences and workshops.
