Arrangements have been concluded by industries whose ground-breaking ceremonies were performed last year in the state to commence construction work.
The Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, who broke the news to Government House correspondents in Uyo, attributed this to the visionary leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel whom, he called, Mr. industrialization.
On the arrival of technical partners from China, Pakistan and India in Akwa Ibom State to conclude arrangements for the take-off of Meter Manufacturing Company, Barr. Enoidem said the meeting between the Governor and the partners has lent credence to the viability of the project.
He announced that company intends to send the first batch of its employees to China and Pakistan for training on the operations of the industry, assuring that the company’s first product would hit the market in the first quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, technical partners from China, Pakistan and India have arrived Akwa Ibom State to conclude arrangements for the take-off of Meter Manufacturing Company, Metering Solutions Manufacturing Services Limited (MSMSL) whose ground breaking ceremony was performed December last year at Awa-Iman in Onna Local Government Area.
Interacting with Government House correspondents after a brief meeting with Governor Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo, the Spokesperson to the Metering Manufacturing plant, Mr. Zhang Loohang, said the company which has just arrived Africa is sited in Akwa Ibom because of its strategic location in the Gulf of Guinea.
Mr. Loohang attributed its establishment to the passion of Governor Udom Emmanuel to making electricity available and affordable in the state to all, saying that electricity holds the key to industralisation.
He explained that Metering Solutions Manufacturing Services Limited is a conglomerate of several companies which would partner to proffer solution to problems arising from electricity generation and distribution.
The spokesperson maintained that when operational, the company will produce single-phase and three-phase electricity meters in various configurations and mountings, light weight, slim skeletal, compact meters for pole installation, pre-payment type, split-type electricity, standard-one unit electricity, bulk-electricity, maximum -demand and smart-electricity meters.
“The company, which is designed as a high technology hub for production, testing and servicing of electricity Meters and allied products, has room for expansion in a modular fashion for additional production lines to develop and assemble various models of electricity meters and accessories”, he stated.
He assured that the firm would help electricity distribution companies to check theft, nonpayment, unreliable billing, consumer resistance, lost of revenue, and also ensure availability of Nigeria-based products which are of high quality and accessible to its customers.
“In addition to creating High Tech, the company will create non-oil related employment thereby making a strong contribution to economic uplift of the region”, he added.
