The foremost human rights activist in the North and the founder of Deservation.Org, Dr. Sani Adamu has come down heavily on the Federal Government for disobeying court order by holding on the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Solomon Sowore.
It could be recalled that an Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday September 24, 2019 granted bail on the co-convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore. The Justice Taiwo Taiwo-led court said there was no longer a subsisting order holding Sowore in detention, hence the need to grant him bail. However, the Federal Government of Nigeria has blatantly refused to obey the court order and after 55 days of holding the publisher to ransom.
In an explosive interview with journalists on Friday night, Dr. Adamu lampooned the Buhari-led administration for taking Nigeria back to the days of Abacha and for intimidating judges who ruled against the administration of justice, “President Buhari, the APC are not honest but taking Nigeria back to the dark days of Abacha and Hitler of Nazi, Germany”, Adamu said.
Sani, an advocate of Correctional Justice who described the present leadership as being wicked added, “the court has ordered that Omoleye Solomon Sowore should be released since Tuesday but the wicked administration refused to grant him bail. Buhari must obey the court and release Sowore immediately”. Dr. Sani also revealed that the Buhari administration against all known odds have concluded plans to punish justice Taiwo Taiwo for ordering the release of Sowore, “we learn that the Federal Government is planning to report the judge who granted Sowore bail to the Nigeria Judicial Council, NJC with the aim of punishing him. This must not stand”, he said.
The Human right activists further queried, “if Buhari can not obey a court order and is planning to punish the judge who gave the bail order, how are we sure that Buhari will obey the Supreme Court order if Atiku is declared President?”
