The Commissioner for Works, Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang bared his mind on the verdict of the Supreme Court in favour of Governor Udom Emmanuel, stating that it was a case similar to that of Ambode vs Akpake in Lagos State, etc wondering why that of A’Ibom was to be different.
Speaking with Journalists at his office, the Commissioner said the state government was not affected by the tension generated before the verdict, that the government was focus in delivering on his promises adding that it is desperation on the part of the opposition in the state not congratulating Udom on victory just like his Rivers State counterpart. He maintained that Udom government is open to all with useful contribution and disclosed that compensation paid so far on road projects in the state was based on standardized negotiations and valuation.
According to him, the secret of Governor Udom success in governance is depended on focus aimed at creating wealth while consolidating on the Uncommon Transformation of the immediate past administration. The Works Commissioner added that the state government will complete ongoing projects in the state within the first four years and initiate new ones across the state, like the Information Drive which he said will be commission in March this year-a project started December 2015 and guaranteed sustainable maintenance of it all. Mr. Inyang rallied support of Ibesikpo Asutan L.G.A for Rt. Hon Elder Aniekan Uko to be return to the State House of Assembly in the rerun election on the platform of PDP and reassured the people of Akwa Ibom of the State governor justification of confidence in the party, PDP.
As contained in the policy thrust of the governor, Mr Akparawa Ephraim Inyang related that the government is using Indigenous Contractors in average of its road construction project, as a PPP, that is a Public Private Partnership to boost corporate relation which might also serve as a panacea to resolving conflict with government projects and the people in communities.
Adding that the government had paid for 60% of the projects already, argued that work is in progress in the Eket-Ibeno road construction project, the Ikot Udom road in Ibiono Ibom, Mkpok road in Onna, Etinan Ndon Eyo road, the Mbak Etoi-Anua road, roads in Oro nation and others, subscribed to the Federal Government plan on toll gate building to generate revenue and disclosed that the Federal Government is yet to pay for federal roads constructed in Akwa Ibom with state the fund.
Meanwhile, the people of Akwa Ibom are still basking in the euphoria of the supreme court verdict that affirmed Udom Emmanuel as the state governor, though the APC governorship candidate who was defeated is yet to congratulate Udom Emmanuel on the victory, as the APC was not favourable in the judgment, the president, Muhammadu Buhari is being reported in the media challenging the supreme court verdict in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States which bring the question of separation of power between the three tiers of government into play.
