2023: ADC Set To Take Over A’Ibom

By Our Reporter

The (ADC) African Democratic Congress has vowed to take over the leadership of Akwa Ibom State after the 2023 general elections.

Addressing a cross-section of workers in the state under the aegis of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the gubernatorial Candidate of the (ADC) African Democratic Congress for Akwa Ibom State, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok who was flanked by his Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mr. James Uduak Udoma, the Uyo Senatorial District candidate of the party, Princess (Dr.) Victoria Ibokette and members of their campaign teams said that the people of Akwa Ibom State should be ready for a new regime of better governance where the state is developed in all sectors of the economy.

Arc. Nya-Etok said that the humongous amount that comes into the state is enough to empower Akwa Ibom people in all areas of the economy. Stressing that he will ensure that workers are well remunerated, promised that the welfare of workers will be his utmost priority as governor.

He noted that the success or failure of any administration is traceable to TUC, explaining that members of the TUC are the senior officers that execute and implement the policies of the government. The governorship hopeful who spoke in a variety of things challenged the TUC members who were made up of the State Administrative Council (SAC) and State Executive Council (SEC) members to rise to the occasion of joining him and his government to make Akwa Ibom the state of their dream that could be bequeathed to the next generation.

He talked of zoning and broke it under four paradigms Vis-à-vis the Obong Attah’s paradigm, Akpabio’s paradigm, Moral burden and the exigencies of the moment paradigms. He explained that his premise of contesting falls under the exigencies of the moment that power has gone around Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and Eket Senatorial Districts and that the calculation can start from anywhere, hence his motivation to contest in 2023 in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

Also speaking, the Uyo Senatorial District candidate of the party, Princess (Dr.) Victoria Ibokette appealed to members of the body to give her full support to emerge as Senator as she is ably qualified for the job. She also said that since she is the first female contestant for the top job, consideration should be given to her as a woman as she will never disappoint the people of Uyo Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State.

In his opening remarks, the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Dominic Abang while thanking the ADC family led by its state Chairman, Engr. (Dr.) Etimbuk Umoh and the party Secretary, Hon. Victor Umoh for not taking TUC for granted added that TUC members cannot be wished away in the polity of the state in view of their strategic role, “We are people that strategically observe political terrain, we are the people that know the needful that should be done in the society, we carry the activities and implement them, we implement the policies of the government, we sit down and formulate policies for the betterment of our workers”
