As the 2023 gubernatorial race progresses, the Akwa Ibom State Governorship candidate under the aegis of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok has declared his strong commitment to the race.
Arc. Nya-Etok affirmed the declaration while answering questions from newsmen at the ADC arena when he played host to media professionals and his party faithful in Uyo recently. The social housing advocate said that he has all it takes to govern the state and that zoning according to Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah’s module favours his aspiration. He explained Attah’s module of sharing according to seniority, noted that after Ex-Governor Attah’s eight years that represented the Ibibios as the ‘first born’, Annang under Godswill Akpabio took their turn as the ‘second born’ that naturally, Oron according to him, being the ‘third born’ was denied the slot and took it to the Ibibio, the ‘first born’ again under Governor Udom Emmanuel. He pointed out that rotationally, Annang, the ‘second born’ has the turn at 2023, which is the basis for his aspiration.
Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok one of the most decorated Nigerians in the housing sector debunked the allegation that he vies for governorship every election year, “I don’t run for governorship every election year. I first contested in 2006. In 2011 and 2015, I did not contest, it was 2019 that I came out. The reason people misconstrue me is that I am always there on the media”
Among his major priority as governor, Arc. Nya-Etok said that Youths employment, Market, Roads will form his key areas of concentration if voted into office, added that new era in governance that Akwa Ibom people will experience under his leadership. Arc. Nya-Etok, a reserved but outspoken Akwa Ibomyte stressed that he will cut down what he termed as wastages in governance to the barest minimum.
The governorship hopeful also announced the reinstatement of the 2023 ADC presidential candidate, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu by the National Working Council of the party. It could be recalled that Kachikwu and at least 27 state chairmen of the ADC had earlier called for the resignation of Mr. Ralph Nwosu, the National Chairman of the party given what they described as ‘overstay’ in the top office, this action was seen as an affront and was described as being Guilty of gross misconduct and was subsequently expelled from the party, Nya-Etok however, termed the action of the presidential candidate as being ‘lawful but not expedient’ at that material time. He called on the electorate to vote for ADC at the 2023 general elections.
The governorship candidate was flanked by the Uyo Senatorial District of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Princess (Dr.) Victoria Ibokette.
