Hon. Idorenyin Umo, one of the frontline gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State has promised to change the narrative of governance in the state if given the opportunity to serve as a governor.
Hon. Idorenyin Umo made the promise in Ekimbuk, Ibiono Ibom Local Government recently when he took his campaign team to his village to consult his kinsmen of his 2023 gubernatorial ambition in Akwa Ibom State.
Addressing his kinsmen, Hon Idorenyin Umo who promised to change the narrative of governance in the state noted that he will serve the people of the state by harnessing the resources of the state which according to him, it is “the commonwealth of the people to be used and better the lives of Akwa Ibom people.” He stressed that the resources of the state belongs to everyone in the state and not an exclusive preserve of the elites who are in government.
According to him, “I respect you; I love you, that is why I am here. Government is owned by God and he is the one that selects a faithful person to bless the people. We have kings who are given to us for punishment and kings that are given for service. I am not contesting because I need food. I am coming out to be a governor because of you. All the resources in Akwa Ibom State belongs to the people, I am coming to serve you. Akwa Ibom people are yearning for a paradigm shift in governance in the State.”
Hon. Idorenyin Umo noted that the consultation was very significant as he was coming to seek the prayers of his people and receive their blessing to help him sail through in the gubernatorial race in the state. “I need the prayers of Ekimbuk people to sail through in this project. I am your own, unite with me, pray for me and let this vision be fully crystallized. This is the time for Ekimbuk. My interest is the interest of the people. I want to serve Akwa Ibom people in a transparent manner and be accountable to the people. Every one of you have a destiny to fulfill in God. What I have in mind is to create a future for the generation of our children. To give the children of Akwa Ibom State qualitative education,” Idorenyin Umo said.
Earlier in his remarks, Hon. Ernest Ema, the Director General of Hon. Idorenyin Umo Campaign Organization while introducing the governorship hopeful to the people described Idorenyin Umo as a man of integrity who has the needed competency to pilot the affairs of the state. He informed the people that Idorenyin Umo has toured the 31 local government areas in the state discovered the latent resources in the state waiting to be harnessed for the benefit of the people.
Hon. Ernest Ema, advised the people to consider the integrity and competency of aspirants in the forthcoming election before supporting any aspirant for the gubernatorial contest. “He is a man of vision and principle. He is a peaceful man who will prioritize the interest of the people above his personal interest. I have worked with him since 2011. We have toured the 31 local government areas in the state. With the resources in the state if effectively harnessed by the governor of the state, every Akwa Ibomites would be rich. With the love he has for the people everybody will benefit from his government. He has employed over 200 staff in his company drawn from various parts of the state.”
In his speech, Comrade Etim Ukpong, the immediate past Chairman of NUT while addressing the people of Ekimbuk described the gubernatorial aspirant as a very meaningful son of Ekimbuk, who facilitated the electrification of Ekimbuk when he served as a lawmaker in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Also speaking, Mr. Ime Udo while responding to Hon. Idorenyin Umo’s gubernatorial declaration promised that the people of the village will support him and stated that Ekimbuk people have been waiting for him to serve in a higher leadership position after he had served them meritoriously in as a lawmaker.
Prayers were offered to Hon. Idorenyin Umo by the village leadership which included Chief Asuquo Essien Bassey, the Chairman Council of Family Heads, Mrs. Mma Glory Jacob, the women leader while Rev Agbor Godwin, the priest of Presbyterian Church Ekimbuk village led the entire people of Ekimbuk village to pray for Hon.
