Accountant General Inaugurates AKSG Biometric Data Capturing Committee

The Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien has inaugurated the Akwa Ibom State Government Public Servants Biometric Data Capturing Committee.

Performing the ceremony in his office today, Thursday 25th June, 2020, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien said the committee’s terms of reference is to establish a Biometric database of all public servants in the State.

The committee’s terms of reference also include capturing relevant workers data and building a digital framework for future needs of the State. The Accountant General explained that the essence of the Biometric data capturing is to further sanitize the payroll database as well as eliminate all possibilities of payroll fraud. He said though the Biometric resides in the Office of the Accountant General, other MDA’s had to be incorporated for optimal result.

Pastor Andrew-Essien stated that the Biometric data capturing is for all civil servants in the State Government’s employ and pensioners. The Accountant General said the committee is expected to sensitize all MDA’s on the upcoming Biometric capturing as well as train operators who would be involved in the exercise. He reminded members of the committee that their selection is purely on merit, and must live above board in the discharge of their duties.

The Secretary, Joint Negotiating Council 1, 2 & 3, Comrade Akamba Awa lauded State Government’s move at the data capturing, saying it will help Government establish its actual workforce.

Responding on behalf of other members of the committee, the Director, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in the Office of the Accountant General, Mr. Sunday Udioko expressed gratitude to the State Government for the opportunity given them to serve. Mr. Udioko assured the Accountant General that the Committee will not betray the confidence reposed in her by the State Government.

The 12 man Committee is headed by the Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, while the Director ICT in the Office of the Accountant General, Mr. Sunday Udioko serves as Secretary. The Committee has 3 (three) months to deliver on the job.
