As part of efforts to strengthen relation with the military authority, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Engr. Bassey Okon, yesterday, received a delegation from course 8, Air Force War College, Nigeria (AFWCN).
The Commissioner, thereafter conducted the Military team, who were on study tour round the two government facilities under his Ministry, including Dakkada Tower and Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Engr Okon who Commended the visiting team for choosing Akwa Ibom State for their study tour said, facilities visited were of high standard with modern technologies that could compete favourably with similar facilities in developed countries of the world.
At Dakkada Tower, the Commissioner took the military course participants through various sections of the smart building, including the smart card access way, equipment room, where he explained to them how the tower is being managed and other control measures within the building.
While at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Engr. Okon, in company of the Julius Berger representative, Engr. Albert Giebermann also led the course 8 participants round the sporting facility.
Responding, on behalf of the military delegation, the Director of Studies, Air Force War College Nigeria (AFWCN), Air Commando Adebayo Kehinde commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for putting up such modern facilities in the State and appreciated the Hon Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, for his scholarly explanation, which according to him are the necessary information needed by them in the course of their study tour in the state.
He said the team was satisfied with the knowledge gained on the tour, adding that the objectives of course eight participants has been maximally achieved. Those in the team were 32 participants, including senior military officers from the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy as well as one Military Officer from the Republic of Cameroon.
