By Lawrence Ekong

The National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) has expressed their readiness to offer useful contributions to the deliberations on the new education roadmap of Akwa Ibom state.

The group made the call Monday, November 24, 2020 when they paid an Advocacy Visit to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong in Uyo. The State’s Spokesman who received the Executive members of the students, lauded their resilience and tenacity in drawing the attention of government to issues affecting them. He assured that the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel means well for every Akwa Ibom student.

The Information Commissioner remarked that education was a necessary tool through which the human mind is positively reconfigured, as well as the bedrock of development of different facets of the society. He charged the students to continue to take their academic pursuits seriously in order to contribute meaningfully to the society after graduation.

Earlier in his address, the NAAKISS (Worldwide) President, Comrade Aniedi Michaels intimated the Commissioner that the Executive Members were in his office on an Advocacy Campaign to discuss issues affecting the welfare of Akwa Ibom students and their academics.

The Students leader also hinted that the purpose of the visit amongst other pleas was to make their thoughts known as parts of inputs to the general deliberations as the state looks forward to recalibrate the sector.

Comrade Michaels thanked the Commissioner for granting them audience despite the short notice issued to his office. He also applauded the sterling performances of the Commissioner since his assumption of office.

Present at the visit were other NAAKISS Worldwide Executive Members: Comrade Otobong George, Vice President; Comrade Benjamin Akpan, Vice President, North; Sen. Odudu Udoaka, Deputy Senate President; Comrade Etiinyene Ekpe, Assistant Secretary General; Comrade Beglad Akpatang, Director of Socials and other Exco members.
