Akwa Ibom Kids Press Club

            The Akwa Ibom Kids Press Club has been formally inaugurated to embark on the quest of promoting children involvement in the media for education and enlightenment as well as giving children a voice in the society.

            The club which started two years ago with mobilization of children for information gathering, processing, events coverage, editing and many other media activities has gained grounds in the media world as the impact of the club has attracted the attention of government of all levels, UNICEF and other foreign bodies to the club. Meanwhile, the club has inducted eighteen members from Glad Tidings College as pioneer members in the school and certified members for the progress and stability of the club.

     The founder and Co-ordinator of the club, Mr. Charles Bassey while inaugurating the club disclosed that the club was the first in Nigeria. He added that the Akwa Ibom Kids Press Club is not a profit oriented club but a multi-purpose media group solely meant for the children. He however encouraged the children to take the chance to better their lives and future.

      Mr. Bassey also appreciated Journalists who have been fighting for the voice of children to be heard in the world. He recognized Patsor (Mrs.) Emah Bassey, Blessing Ambrose of AKBC TV; Mr. Sam Akpan of Inspiration FM;  Mfon Hanson, online Prime voice; Mr. Ubong and a host of others. They were also presented with awards of excellence in practice and for support given to Akwa Ibom kids. The program also featured training of intended broadcasters by seasoned media professionals.

    The chairman of the club, Mrs. Emah Bassey in her words called on parents, schools, churches and various bodies interested in the projection of children’s talents to key in to the club’s vision to redeem the future of the Nigerian children.
