Looking critically at the events of this year’s Anambra gubernatorial polls unfold, one cannot miss the fact that the majority of the masses have the name of the Okosissi of Orumba, Dr. Godwin Maduka in their minds. Dr. Maduka’s effervescent and urbane nature, administrative ingenuity and quite truly kind mien, has made so many realise that “to applaud a politician because he has built a school, hospital or road using public funds…is the same as congratulating an automated teller machine (ATM) for giving you your money.” This sad analogy has been the pathetic trajectory in the modern art of politicking.
However, Dr. Maduka has been generally accepted by the entire political space as an administrator per excellence. Even his fellow contestants speak about him in hushed tones. He has exposed the fact that one does not need public funds to do what is right for society with such an act inhumane fashion. Amongst the electorates, there is a continuous buzz about how a private individual has been bold enough to spend his hard-earned resources to transform lives in and around his community and beyond, for the past two decades.
While people were basking in the euphoria of a new dawn, several traditional rulers have given Dr. Maduka their blessings and tacit support. Traditional rulers as notable as HRM, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha (Agbogidi), who does not give scores to people easily, has stated that “Dr. Godwin Maduka’s verifiable philanthropy is what you get from outstanding natural leaders, who are more concerned about growing all people in the society to create a balance and for posterity.” Also, the Ancient Agbalanze Society of Onitsha, the Otu Odu Society of Onitsha and the Elders Forum of Onitsha are all firmly endorsing the candidature of Dr. Godwin Maduka. This massive solidarity was coming due to his mutual interactions with Onitsha Ado N’Idu Indigenous Professional Youths and the consistent support and encouragement he gives to these Youths.
In the same vein, the Nnewi circle was not left out, HRH Igwe Kenneth Nwafor Orizu, the Igwe of Nnewi also completely endorsed Dr. Godwin Maduka as the best candidate for the choice of the governor of Anambra state, out of the teaming contestants because of his positive antecedents, other rare administrative traits and his passionate interest on building people speaks volumes of his great character.
Besides that, numerous professional associations, like the Nigerian Medical Association, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Anambra state chapters etc., did also grant Dr. Godwin Maduka their full endorsements. In extension, several Student and Youths Associations are eagerly campaigning for Dr. Maduka’s governorship aspirations in order to make sure that this genius of an administrator is sworn in as the next governor of Anambra State come March 10, 2022.
The pendulum of support keeps swinging. Bodies and groups like OAYSSM, Medical Students’ Associations, Anatomy Students Association, various Town Hall Groups etc., are all willingly rooting as well as campaigning for Dr. Maduka’s gubernatorial project.
From the foregoing, therefore it is pertinent for all the members of the public and electorates alike to come forth on November 6, 2021 and make the bold statement by voting with all the assurances having in mind that a wonderful administrator who is more concerned about people’s lives and welfares is going to be in charge at Agu Awka soon!
