… As Field Superintendent Showers Blessings on Participants

A retired Permanent Secretary who served in the Akwa Ibom State Government, Pastor Mfon Douglas Okpongete has been formerly received by leadership and members of The Apostolic Church, Uyo Field.
Pastor Okpongete who was called to the vineyard of God on May 7, 2019 and was subsequently ordained as substantive pastor in charge of Udotung Ubo district also doubled as the Administrative Secretary, The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Uyo Field.
Speaking at the event, the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Uyo Field, Apostle (Dr.) I. N. George called on Christians to be dedicated to the work of God and serve God faithfully. he described Pastor Okpongete as a dedicated servant of God who has not been found wanting in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The man of God stressed on the need for Christians to support ministers of the gospel and imbibe the spirit of giving to God’s servants to enhance their welfare as this, according to him will account to their numerous blessings from God.
In his homily, the officiating minister and chairman on the occasion, Pastor Okpon Who preached on the topic, “Giving” drew his text from the book of Colossians 4:10-13 admonished Christians on benefits of giving. He cited examples of people in the bible who gave generously and showed how God blessed them abundantly.
Presenting their welcome address by the staff, officers and members of The Apostolic Church, Uyo described Pastor Okpongete as humble, social and very principled servant of God who is diligent in every aspect of his calling, “Pastor Mfon Okpongete since his appointment office has proved his ministry in both the Uyo Field Headquarters and his assembly by assisting tirelessly with his humble, social but highly principled life”.
They congratulated Pastor Mfon Okpongete for steering the development of the church in various areas such as the provision of ultra-modern toilet for the Assembly; borehole for supply of water to both the church and community; refurbishing of musical equipment; painting the church building and many other projects executed for the good of the church. They prayed God to endow him and the wife wisdom to continue carry out the work of God.
Responding, Pastor Mfon Okpongete flanked by wife, Deaconess Iniobong Okpongete thanked the entire leadership and members for finding him feat to serve God in that capacity. He particularly thanked the Field Superintendent, Apostle George whom God used to identify him for the work, described as intelligent, highly principled and embodiment of truth he specially appreciated the Deputy National Secretary, Pastor S. A. Isaiah; Territorial Chairman, Pastor A. O. Udoiyak; Uyo District Pastor, M. G. Akpan for contributing to his spiritual uplift.
Speaking to Century Newsfront, the wife of the Pastor, Deaconess Iniobong Okpongete who was full of praises to God for making the event memorable described it as awesome. She said that God made the programme successfully in all fronts, “I’ve just seen the faithfulness of God in my life and family, even the weather was favourable to us”.
The event featured song rendition by different choirs; gift presentations by churches, groups and individual among others. Eminent personalities graced the occasion including the Head of Service of Akwa Ibom State; political class; the great Okpongete’s family; St. Douglas Schools; retired and serving Permanent Secretaries; Association of wives of Permanent Secretaries (ASWOPS) among others
