The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Monday Udoh Tom has been ordained as Pastor of the Mount Zion Light House Full Gospel Church in the penultimate week.
The ordination service held at the Itiam Sectional Headquarters, Uyo Diocese of the church in Akwa Ibom State was presided over by Bishop Godwin Udoenang. Mr. Tom was ordained alongside other Pastors and Elders.
Addressing the newly ordained, the cleric, Bishop Udoenang urged them to utilize their call and ordination to serve God as a mandate to bring glory and beauty to the Christendom. The cleric said the essence of ordination is to symbolically take off the filthy garments, replacing it with holy garments for God’s service.
Drawing his message from the Bible in Zachariah Chapter 3 Verse 1-5, the cleric narrated how Joshua’s filthy garment was replaced with a holy garment by God’s angel. He implored the newly ordained to be of good conduct in line with the command in Zachariah Chapter 1 Verse 7: “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts….”
Speaking at the service, Pastor Monday Udoh Tom expressed delight over the success of the ordination, which he said is in fulfillment of his destiny to be a cleric. He said God has always been faithful to him and his household despite challenges. Tom said his work as an electoral officer will not distract him from serving God, “I went to Bayelsa State, today, there is chapel in INEC office in Bayelsa State. We pray every day before we resume work. I promise myself that wherever I go, I must take the Gospel there. I had to wait 13 months before being sent to Bayelsa, even when my colleagues in other states had long resumed work. I put all my trust in God. He has never disappointed me and will never.”
Pastor Tom thanked members of his family for always being supportive. He later led the congregation in a praise and worship session. The event was attended by clerics/ members of the church, colleagues, friends and associates of the ordained.
