Contemporary issues around the globe point to the Biblical fact that the world we are in today will sometimes, someday, any second, minute or hour come to an end.
This undisputed fact as recorded in Mark Gospel under the caption, “The Day and Hour unknown” states: “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the son, but only the father.”
Against this backdrop, therefore, if one bears his or her mind about what would take place before this day, one simply concludes that with what happens each day throughout the world as reported in both print and electronic media the Armageddon is truly near not only near but very near. Oxford Advance Dictionary defines Armageddon as a battle between good and evil at the end of the world, a terrible war that could destroy the world.
Presently such evil like Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen brouhaha, unknown gunmanship, Islamic onslaught, war between safe-makers and safe-breakers, revolutions of some sorts, kidnapping and other evil doings as reported day in day out. The situation as it is makes many people and families live in fear as to what would be end to these happenings.
As a matter of the moment and before the day what should people do before the actual day? Going by the Biblical instructions about the upcoming day, it states: “Watch out that you are not deceived and that these things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.
An issue like kidnapping cannot be equated with what the Bible said about two persons going together but after sometimes one would disappear and also a wife and husband sleeping on a bed and unexpectedly one between them would vanish.
This reminds of a geography lesson about Mesopotamia and the melting spot where one or other getting to a melting spot either by omission or commission vanishes. Yes, this is the world where issues pertaining to the end time must happen to remind people of that awful day. We heard about Sampson in a gathering of three thousand philistines after they took him for granted pushed with all his might and down came the pillar of a temple on the rulers and all the people in it thus killing many more when he died than while he lived. That was then but now in Nigeria as in Lagos, Akwa Ibom and other states, the matter of the moment wonders who was the Samson and the Philistines in the religious gatherings. Without mincing words, all these point to the day and so every mortal should be watchful. Several years ago Etubom Rex William, a highlife maestro signaled a warning in a piece “ererimbot ayafung oko” to the citizens of the world following the dwindling state of the world which indicated that the world was coming to an end. It was like this in the days of Noah and at the end, the whole world was flooded leaving only those who headed the warning were saved. This brought about a divine proclamation that the next time the world would end, it would not be flooding again (Genesis 7:11, Genesis 9:11).
Oh! Wonderful world, wonderful people, beautiful world, beautiful people but when shall the sorrows and pains of this world has an end? This question comes to the matter of the moment and you. Listen to the cry in wilderness and be watchful for that is the matter of the moment.
