The Bible Society of Nigeria has commended the Christ Church Port Harcourt for its continued support to the Society’s programmes and activities.
The Church has also been lauded for its constant support to youth activities through the Port Harcourt Auxiliary for the past years. These remarks were made in Port Harcourt last Sunday during the 2022 Bible Week Celebration at the Church by the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, while addressing the congregation.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno also lauded the present Resident Minister, the Very Rev Jonathan Udofia and his ministers, as well as past ministers for keeping faith with the Society as partners to spread the Word of God to all Nigerians. He declared, “the Society act as a middle man to reach out to the people in terms of translating, distributing and making the Written Word of God to all irrespective of their status or condition”.
The Chairman, therefore, called on the Church to maintain their support to achieve more in the Kingdom Work, while commending the Church for assistance called for the members to enrolled as members of the society.
The occasion which featured the presentation of the Special Membership Certificate to Dame Iritari Ezekiel Ogan the first person to be a Special Member from the Church. Elder Ayo-Tamuno praised the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Temebo Inko-Tariah and Mr. Daboye Graham Douglas for their continued personal supports to the society and appealed to others to invest in the Society.
Speaking later the Resident Minister of Christ Church, Port Harcourt, the Very Revd. Jonathan Udofua assured that the Church would not relent in its efforts to support the Bible Society of Nigeria within available resources.
The Very Revd. Udofia further assured that members of the church would be encouraged to be members of the society and commended the efforts of the society for taking the front seat in the distribution and translating of the Bible in Nigerian Languages.
