The Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Mr. Nsima Ekere has described Late Obongawan Imo Isemin as an industrious, courageous and principled woman, noting that her demise was a great loss to the state and nation at large.
Ekere, who stated this when he accompanied the Leader of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Obong Umana Okon Umana as well as some friends of Late Isemin’s family on a condolence visit assured the deceased family that they were never alone in this moment of grief.
While recalling the role, the Late First Lady played towards the actualization of SMEs in the state, the NDDC boss urged the members of the family to be consoled with the fact that the deceased left indelible mark on the sand of time. He expressed optimism that the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) will pay condolence to the family. “What has happened affect me in a very personal way, the death of your mother is a big loss to all of us. We’re devastated. We’re very sad. “The role she played in bringing up SMEs in Akwa Ibom State, for me was the greatest service she rendered to the state apart from being First Lady of Akwa Ibom. We feel and share in your pain and I pray God to give you the strength and fortitude to bear the loss”, he prayed.
In his remark, the Leader of All Progressive Congress in the state, Obong Umana Okon Umana said the demise was a monumental loss but urged members of the family to emulate the deceased legacies. Umana, who also is the Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA) affirmed that the deceased was industrious and principled and urged the family to be consoled by the legacy the Late First Lady left behind.
He disclosed that the leadership of APC in the state, led by the chairman, Mr. Amadu Attai will soon pay tribute to the family. “I heard about her first through my friends and colleagues who worked under her in the bank before I eventually met her when her husband became Governor of the state and her the First Lady. She was a very outstanding banker, she was exemplary. We must learn from her legacies. This is a monumental loss. She was very industrious, very principled. ” I want to condole with you and assure you that in this moment of grief you’re not alone”, he assured.
Also Speaking, Chief Sunny Jackson portrayed his relationship with the deceased family as long standing maintaining that, Late Imo Isemin was highly respected in this country. He urged the remaining members of the family to be united and forge ahead in life as death was inevitable.
Responding on behalf of the deceased family, Mr. Ubong Isemin, commended friends of the family for the tribute, noting that such gesture has strengthened them in this era of bereavement. He promised to ensure that various legacies the mother left behind were emulated accordingly.
In the entourage were, the Federal Commissioner Representing Akwa Ibom State in NDDC, Elder Sam Frank, the Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr Effiong Abia, Obong Okokon Etuk, Dr. Maurice Ebong, Mr. Inibehe Okorie, Mr Inyang Unya, Mr. Etim Etim among others. Prayers were offered to the deceased family.
