An expert in education sub sector of the economy, Mrs. Queen-Esther Anyanwu has said that the solution to Nigeria’s unending problems lies in the hands of women.
Mrs. Anyanwu who stated this while delivering a lecture titled, “Role of the Girl Child in Nation Building” on Thursday at a-two day national conference of Women in Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals in Uyo, said since women are endowed with natural intelligence and capacity to handle any responsibility as mothers with care and conscience, they would surely deliver the country from the present political and economic doldrums.
Mrs. Anyanwu who is the founder, Voice of Education Africa stressed that women could only take over the mantle of leadership in any capacity if acquire the necessary education that would skyrocket them to such position.
She stated that it is not enough for women to physically appear gorgeous with the most expensive outfits in the world but fail to update their brain through continuous learning that would enhance efficiency in any capacity they find themselves, citing the WTO chairperson, Dr Okonji Iwela as an epitome of Nigerian womanhood who should be emulated as a model.
She criticized women for being selfish and self centered concentrating only on the wellbeing of their biological children while their maids are seen and treated as slaves and hawkers.
The education advocate called on every woman to pick one female child and mentor for future hope of becoming a leader rather than joining the societal bandwagon to see girl child as inferior creature. “No human being is inferior, no human is completely stupid, the problem is that we can’t identify their area of interest and proficiency and train them on the identified area not areas, we must start it today”.
She called on the larger society of third world countries not to see education of girl child as a waste but as positive investment in greater nationhood.
