Finance Commissioner Supports FEYREP Outreach Program

The State Commissioner for Finance, Akan Okon has pledged continuos support for the advancement of the outreach program of FEYREP, the pet project of the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel.
The Commissioner who made the pledge when he received the President and members of FEYREP Ambassadors International(FAI) who called on him at his office in Uyo   said , he was proud to associate with Mrs Martha Emmanuel and her noble philanthropic activities.
Describing the Governor’s wife as a great mother with a deep passion to touch lives, the Commissioner used the medium to applaud her for being a torchbearer for women, the youth ,the children , and for transforming lives through the platform of her initiative, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Program(FEYREP).
He lauded FEYREP Ambassadors for their efforts to transmit the good works of Mrs Emmanuel to people at the grassroots saying that ” what you are doing is to bridge the gap by drawing government closer to the people, and so this will go a long way in making governance easier”. While encouraging FAI to sustain this initiative, Commissioner Okon made a cash donation to further boost the purchase of welfare materials for distribution .
The President of FEYREP Ambassadors  International , Mrs Helen Nsikak Ekong said the body is a non- governmental organization whose aims and objectives is to highlight  the ideals and values of FEYREP  through outreach programs particularly to people in the interior villages and creeks. Mrs Ekong stated that the essence of the visit was to showcase the modest achievements of FAI to Mr. Akan Okon ,and to also seek his  buy-in , noting that as a dependable ally of the present administration, and a lover of progress, he would love the impact of this government to be felt not only in the Urban but also the rural areas of the State.
Mrs Helen Ekong who said part of their agenda is to visit villages in the 31 LGAs , added that with the support of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel as well as their foreign partners they were able to hit the ground running and have so far visited different communities in four  local government areas of Oron, Ikono, Obot Akara and Okobo to deliver gift items and welfare packages .
The FAI President however regretted that despite the life-touching programs which the Governor’s wife whom she called “Eka Unwana” has so far carried out in the State, notably , the free eye care and surgery, free medical surgeries, free de-worming exercise, empowerment of women ,widows, multiple birth parents, disabled , among others, some of the people in the remote villages were unaware of this noble gestures due to inadequate information .
She said as ambassadors of FEYREP, they are determined to bridge this gap by taking FEYREP to the nooks and crannies of different communities in Akwa Ibom State for people to be well informed and in turn key  into government laudable programs ,as well as distribution of welfare packages especially learning materials to school children. The visit also featured prayers for the well being of the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his  wife, Martha and the State.
