Over one million naira has been paid to offset bills of indigent patients in the labour ward of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo.
The Special Assistant to the State Governor on Religious Affairs, Rev. Daniel Akwatang and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Government House Monthly Prayer Committee, Pastor Emmanuel Bassey and members on behalf of the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel said the gesture was a tradition of the Committee to put smiles on the faces of the needy in the society.
Responding, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. EmemAbasi Bassey and Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Kunle Abudu who received the team expressed gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for the show of love extended to patients in the UUTH and prayed God for more blessings to the Governor.
Speaking with Newsmen, one of the patients who is a nursing mother of twin, Eno-Obong Sylvester from Nnung Ate-Ibesikpo thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the show of love and prayed for God’s reward to him and his family.
