The People of Nto Edino in Obot Akara have been commended for their resolute and peaceful cooperation with the state Government and the contractor handling the construction of the on-going 6.4km Nto-Edino – Ekwere Azu road project.
The Honourable Commissioner for Works Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen gave the commendation recently while addressing the chiefs, community leaders and youths of the area during payment of compensation to the property owners affected by the road project.
The Works Commissioner who was highly impressed by the maturity and peaceful organization of the people, especially the youth reiterated Governor Udom Emmanuel’s commitment to site more project in the area. Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen said Governor Emmanuel is fully aware of the unflinching support of the people of the area, before, during and after the Supreme Court’s victory and is ready to reciprocate the gesture with more developmental project.
The Honourable Commissioner who was in company of the Permanent Secretary Dr. Ifreke Ekpa; Director Electrical, Engr. Peter Udobang and others presented cheque to the beneficiaries of the affected property, urged the people to use the resources judiciously and also appealed to those with genuine claims to feel free to bring them up for necessary action.
He also appealed to all the property owners who have received their compensation to ensure timely relocation to new sites to allow the construction company to have the right of way for the proper alignment of the project. The Works Boss who also inspected the on-going construction work, extolled the seal, commitment and the standard of work done by the SEYANG Construction Company; and sought for more of such cooperation and partnership with the present administration in the overall interest of the State.
Speaking the Managing Director of SEYANG Construction Company, Engr. Samuel Inyang who witnessed the compensation payment appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for the choice of the company and thanked the Honourable Commissioner and his team for all the encouragement.
Engr. Samuel Inyang assured the State Government that SEYANG will not fail in its inaugural promise of delivering the project on record time with all it technical components. The Nto-Edino – Ekwere Azu road project has two major bridges and right now it’s about 75% completed with earthwork
Obong Gideon Ufon Udiong III the village Head of Nto-Edino and Comrade Ndifreke Udoaka Ubeke – youth leader of Nto-Edino clan in their separate speeches thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for bring development to the area for the first time and the Honourable Commissioner for ensuring that the project is executed as planned. The duo who spoke on behalf of the people of the area promised their unwavering support of the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel at all times.
