The Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom local government area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Okuku (Dr.) Ime Udousoro Inyang has raised the alarm over the state of bad roads and violent crimes in the area.
The Royal father made this known when a media group, Itu/Ibiono Ibom Media Vanguard paid him a royal visit in his palace recently. He decried that despite the contributions of Ibiono Ibom to the development of the state, there is no road to link the local government area to the state capital.
The Ibom Ibiono Ibom noted that even internal movement; one cannot access any community within the local communities as there is no access between Ibiono and Ikpanya, another Clan in the area. The head of the royal stool in Ibiono Ibom who was worried over government inconsistency in its activities and policies, recalled the Itak, Use Ikot Amama roads, which was like an anthem in the last administration was abandoned, observed that till today, nothing is said about the road.
Edidem Ime Inyang also noted lack of government hospital in Ibiono Ibom local government area as many deaths recorded in the area happened as a result of trying to convey the sick or pregnant women to Uyo for Medicare. He called on the establishment of primary and secondary health facilities in the area as this will reduce incessant deaths experience in the area. On the area of violent crime, notably the activities of one Malachi whom the Royal father mentioned that terrorized the Southern part of Ibiono Ibom, the Paramount Ruler noted that reports have been sent to appropriate quarters that he is waiting for their action in that direction, “aside the reports we sent to the appropriate quarters for action, I have mandated village youth Presidents to watch out for hoodlums and criminals in their domain and report same to us and law enforcement agencies for immediate action”.
Speaking earlier, the Co-ordinator General of Itu/Ibiono Ibom Media Vanguard, Comrade Shearer Ukpong explained that the media group is made up of core Journalists and other media workers of Itu and Ibiono Ibom extraction with the aim of Informing, Defending, Educating, Advocating and Promoting (with the acronym IDEA-P) the ideals of the two local government areas and her citizenry in all aspects of human existence as well as scouting for ways of bringing development to the areas through a sustained media activities.
Comrade Ukpong noted that the essence of the visit was to inform the Royal father of the birth of the group and to seek his royal blessing. Comrade Ukpong was accompanied at the visit by the Chairman and Secretary, Board of Trustees, Saviour Ekpe, JP and Effiong Usoro; a cross section of the Executive Committee including the Secretary and Treasurer, Comrade Dominic NsikakAbasi, Uduak Akai and other members of the group.
Present at the visit were Clan Head of Ikpanya, His Royal Highness, Etebom Ekpeobong Isaac Ononsin; Ibiono Ibom Clan Council Public Relations Officer (PRO), Obong (Dr.) Daniel Okon Essien; Village Heads of Itu Atan and Ikot Antono, Eteidung Eseme Daniel Etim and Xavier Ekanem respectively among others who were present.
