The youths of Iboko Offot in Uyo local government area have demanded for immediate evacuation of the corpse of a widow that was drowned by the heavy downpour of yesterday March 9, 2022 along Abak Road by Nkemba.

Speaking to Century Newsfront the Youth President of the area, Comrade Alexander Ukpabio who led the youths of the area for a peaceful road block told Century Newsfront that they are not for any form of violence but demanded justice to be done to the deceased, Ekaette Okpon who, according to him ‘has no child’ to fight for her, “what has happened today could have been avoided if the government has covered the carnal that are left bare open for many years”.

The Immediate past Chairman of Iboko Offot Village Council, Comrade Basil Ikpe decried the poor state of the carnal as every effort to get government attention to cover the carnal proves abortive, “This is a bad omen because the community has been trying to get the government to cover the carnal but to no avail”

Responding, the Commissioner for Environment, Sir Charles Udo who was at the scene of the incidence told Century Newsfront that equipment for the evacuation of the body are on the way as government will do everything possible to ameliorate the incident.

The road has been blocked for over ten hours today, though the situation has been very peaceful but the Divisional Police Officer and an array of his men have been there to ensure bad elements do not take advantage of the scenario, as motorists were seen using adjoining streets for their daily activities.
