Information Commissioner creates two new directorates …strategy and archives

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, has announced the creation of two new directorates for the Ministry of Information and Strategy. They are the Strategy and Archives directorates.

Charles Udoh who made this known recently during a meeting he held with the management and staff of the Ministry in the conference room of the Ministry said the new directorates will open up opportunities for staff with the right passion and dedication to express themselves as well as add value to their career.

He reiterated his commitment to reward hard working and dedicated staff and disclosed the expansion of the “Best Information Officers Award” to accommodate the staff of other directorates.

The Commissioner commended three staff of the Ministry for their passion and dedication, including the director of Information, Comfort Umanah, the acting director of Strategy, Mrs. Grace Akpan and a Photographer, Glory George and called on other staff to imbibe the spirit of teamwork and join in the effort to achieve the goal of the ministry.

Speaking on the development of the Information sector, the Information said, apart from the creation of the new directorates and minor re-organization to energize the sector, the Commissioner said the moribund Government Printing Press will soon come alive as modalities are in top gear to commence operation under Public Private Partnership. He said when revamped, the Government Press will provide job opportunities to no fewer than 200 indigenes of the state and urged the people of the state to take advantage of all the industries established by government to better their lots either by taking up distributorship of the products or by supplying raw materials such as bamboo used by the toothpick factory or paper used by the pencil factory.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Pastor Praise Okon, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the facelift given to the Ministry and the welfare packages provided to staff since his assumption of office even in the face of economic recession and prayed God to grant him wisdom and good health as he steers on the Information machinery of government to higher heights.

Pastor Praise Okon, called on all staff of the Ministry to support and give maximum cooperation to the Information Commissioner to ginger and encourage him do more for the Ministry and state at large. Present at the occasion were directors from all the eight directorates of the Ministry.
