Edet Ikotidem lists areas of top priority
Says quarterly briefing of constituents would be observed

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the House of Representatives to represent Itu/Ibiono in the National Assembly, Barr. Edet Ikotidem has pointed out some cardinal areas of concentration if elected for the legislative job.
Ikotidem made this known when he played host to members of Itu Media Professionals’ Forum in his residence in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital recently. Knowing that knowledge is power, he explained that if elected to represent the people of the Federal Constituency, he will create what he termed as information bank where information with regards to federal, scholarships, job vacancies, grants, tenders for contracts etc including foreign opportunities in these areas as well as that of multi-national corporations for the people.
Quarterly seminar for the youths, women and the elderly is another area Barr. Ikotidem intends to give top priority to. This according to him is intended to change and redirect the mentality of the people of the federal constituency especially the youths besides, monthly/quarterly constituency briefing, apart from garnering inputs from constituent members for legislative acticities and national discourse, the forum will enable him to identify and address challenges of members with a view to proffering lasting solutions.
The sustainable empowerment scheme of Barr. Ikotidem, which according to him would be different from that of his predecessors is aimed at providing strategic empowerment for the people of the federal constituency by initiating empowerment opportunities for the youths, women and political stakeholders for sustainable wealth creation, “when you buy a second hand car for somebody who is not working, you have succeeded in creating additional burden to the person. My way of empowering our people will be for a sustained dimension”.
Building of a permanent/functional constituency office is another priority Ikotidem plans to carryout for his people. The office according him, will serve as a liaison between him and members of his constituents, fully equipped with modern gadget with permanent staffers who will carry out a-day-to-day service to the people for the provision of vital information about opportunities that abound at the national, foreign levels could be easily accessed by the constituent members.
Barr. Ikotidem, a lawyer, an indigene of Itu Udo village in Ibiono local government area, a former supervisor and subsequently Council Secretary of the old Itu local government area. Born six decades ago, Barr. Ikotidem attended Primary School, Ibiaku, Ibiono Ibom where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate; proceeded to Community Secondary School, Ikot Ayan Ediene in Ikono local government area and obtained his General Certificate in Education. Because of his quest for knowledge and personal development, Barr. Ikotidem went to University of Uyo and studied Law and was subsequently called to the Nigeria Bar after successfully completion of the programme in the Nigerian Law School.
As a consummate businessman, he has successfully ran his businesses, which he has created wealth to many Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians by providing direct and indirect jobs to about 300 at different work sites across the country. As a political stakeholder, Barr. Ikotidem is a mass mobilize, dependable with humanistic passion and a high sense of commitment. He is competence, transparent, and accountable in all ramifications. Through his political connections, he has drawn some basic amenities to his country home in Ibiono Ibom local government area as well as his residence in Itu under Uyo capital city. If elected for the top legislative job, he is adjudged by many political analysts to be able to perform above average in view of his doggedness; commitment and having human face in all his endearvours.
