The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed this weekend for candidates that could not meet up for the examination due to various reasons in the Akwa Ibom State.
In a press release signed by the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of JAMB, Mrs. Grace Olima-William and made available to Century Newsfront stated that everything has been put in place to cater to students who could not write in the last concluded 2022 UTME exams, “this is to notify all candidates who could not sit for the 2022 UTME in Akwa Ibom State due to fingerprint peculiarities, technical or biometric challenges that JAMB has fixed Saturday, 6th August 2022 for Mop Up”.
According to the release, qualified candidates are to visit the JAMB website, check for eligibility with their registration number for the printing of the mop-up slip, “Candidates are advised to check their eligibility and print their notification on https://www.jamb.gov.ng click on 2022 mop up slip printing, insert registration number to print”.
Speaking to Century Newsfront regarding the development, parents, as well as candidates themselves expressed what they described as, ‘satisfaction’ as some said, ‘I thought my money is wasted. A parent, an Uyo resident, Mr. Asuquo Akpan Okon while exchanging views with Century Newsfront said, “I have two of my children who took the UTME Exams, one went through successfully for the exams but the other complained that the machine could not capture her fingerprint, infact, she came home crying throughout the day, even I as the father was thinking all hope is gone but to hear of this information, truly, it is a good news for my family”.
Another parent, Mrs. Rosemary Emmanuel Ating said, “JAMB broke my son’s heart when there were some issues with his biometric capturing. For exams that my son read day and night, could not sleep since he wanted to have above the cut-off point because he wants to read medicine at the university. When this issue was identified, he became sick for days but I thank God for this good news today”.
One of the UTME candidates, Miss Otobong Utibe Daniel who was filled with joy and praises to God told Century Newsfront, “I am very very very happy over this good news. I will call my parents and break the good tidings to them because when all hope has gone, this information comes to me. One of my schoolmates who missed this exam in 2021 applied again this year and unfortunately, a similar thing happened again. I’m happy about this great news. Thank you”.
