“All citizens of Kogi are free to visit the state anytime they so wish and nothing can stop them from performing their civic duty”.
This is the response of Hajia Nana Khadijat Yahaya, an aspirant under the aegis of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the Kogi State House of Assembly during the just concluded Primaries, to the statement credited to a thug of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state. In the run up to the November poll, it was alleged that a political ally of Governor Yahaya Bello the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC for the governorship election said that “those who do not support Governor Yahaya Bello do not have any business being in Kogi”.
The statement has been generating a lot of heated exchanges between the supporters of the two parties. According to Hajia Khadijat, Engr.Wada Musa and his running mate, Samuel Aro are on their way to winning the Kogi poll in November hence the panic and cheap threats.
According to Hajia Khadijat, PDP and the people of Kogi are united in their resolve to use every means available in democracy to go to the polls and vanquish APC and Yahaya Bello in the November governorship election. The statement reads in part, “It is clear to all that Governor Yahaya Bello has become disorganized, jittery and scared in the face of his rejection by the people as well as the soaring popularity Musa Wada and Samuel Aro in the State, and has now resorted to the threat. She further urged Kogi electorate to shun any attempt to intimidate them into silence but come out massively and vote for Engr. Wada and Aro.
