A Member Representing Itu State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem has donated a newly built and well furnished 2-bedroom flat to a homeless widow, Akon Edet Okon to mark the 2020 Christmas Celebration.
At the handover ceremony which held at Urua Ekpa, the Executive Chairman of Itu LGA, Hon. Etitim Onuk said, “the woman has been a long standing supporter of PDP from the days of NPN, her partner was Mma Nkanika”. While thanking the lawmaker for rewarding her services to the party, the Council Boss noted that he will emulate the lawmaker, in placing the needs of the people first.
The donor, Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem in his remark said that he learnt of the woman’s condition through a video sent to him earlier this year. “In April 2020, I saw a video in my phone, the location was Urua Ekpa, I knew it was in my Constituency. I sent someone to go see what can be done. I lost sleep when I heard that there was rain again, and the woman crawled out” Edidem explained
He also disclosed that he was joined in contributing to the house project by other well meaning indigenes of the State. “I did not build the house alone. I want to thank Engr. Anthony Akpanudo, who drew the plan and supervised the building without collecting a dime, and also contributed in doing a baluster for the building at no cost. I thank Jim global, who also donated part of the tiles,” He said.
Edidem donated the house on behalf of the Koko Foundation, adding that the house project is in memory of his late mother. He urged the people to be optimistic, as the foundation will continue to touch the lives of the people in the grassroots through housing.
On behalf of the community, the Community Leader, Emmanuel Okon Abel, appreciated the lawmaker for “handing over a 2 bedroom flat as an amazing Christmas gift to a widow which Hon. Kufre Edidem knew from nowhere”.
