Lions Club Elects New Executive

A new executive of international association of LIONS club, Uyo Metropolitan Lions Club Region 404A2 has been elected.

The new executive emerged after a keenly contested election which took place at Helnoe Downtown Hotel, Nwaniba Road, Uyo recently. The election, which was conducted by the Lion Esikong Bassey led election committee saw Lion Obongawan Cecilia Ikoriwot elected as President; lion Enobong Ekefre – 1st Vice President; Lion Iberedem Hilary – Secretary and Lion Ephraim Akwaowo, Treasurer.

In her acceptance speech, the President – elect Lion Obongawan Cecilia Ekoriwot thanked members of the club for finding her worthy to pilot the affairs of the organization as promised to run the club with the fear of God and the tenets of lions club international. She said that the reason for her joining lions was borne out of her passion to serve humanity especially the needy and promised to do good to all manner of people.

Earlier, the out gone President of the club, lion Jude Nakanta thanked members of the club for their support, which had resulted in the numerous achievements of the club in the last one year of his leadership and appealed to members to extend the same support to the new president and the entire executive for the betterment of the club.

The event also featured the reception in honour of the club’s Ambassador; Mrs. Oma Ibe Igajah popularly called Oma of Planet FM, Idu Uruan. She thanked the club for the gesture and promised to remain worthy ambassador of the club and to continue to serve humanity in her capacity as a broadcaster.

Oma who attended the reception with her husband, Engr. Ibe Igaja attributed her success in life to diligence and hardship, called on youth to work hard to discover their potentials and be useful to themselves and the society at large. The event attracted past and present leaders from different districts of Lions club international, friends and acquaintances.
