There was a peaceful exchange of leadership batons in Mbiakong Community Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State as a new Youth Organization Executive was formally and constitutionally inauguralted at the Mbiakong Community wild-life viewing centre recently.
The occasion which attracted prominent people from Akwa Ibom State was characterized by conviviality, jubilation, dancing and wining.
In his opening speech, the chairman on the occasion Hon. Ignatius Bassey said he was humbled by the caliber of personalities that came to grace the occasion. Adding that the swearing-in ceremony and the official inauguration of the Youth Exco of Mbiakong that day had created a big history in the anals of Mbiakong Community. He urged the new Exco members to show a great deal of patriotism in the service to their community. Also speaking, Pastor Benjamin Essien in his sermonette admonished all those that love Mbiakong to stand still on their feet and do the biddings to the community without any fear or argument. Barrister Richard Udo while swearing in the new Executive members charged them to discharge their duties faithfully without fear or favour.
On his part, Barrister John Bassey enjoined the new Exco to be prudent in their management of the resources of the community. He concluded by saying the greatest legacy a man owes his family/community is a good n ame”.
The Village Head of Mbiakong, Eteidung Hycenth Okon Ekpenyong expressed gratitude to God Almighty for making the swearing-in ceremony of the new Mbiakong Youth Exco a huge success and called on all and sundry to contribute their quota to the development of Mbiakong community and to eschew reancour and hatred in all ramifications.
In his paternal and professional advice, the community’s Legal Adviser, Barr. Eyoren S. Uban warned the newly inaugurated Executive to live above board both in their character and performance not given to treasury looting just for personal agrandisement, but to work for the unity and development of Mbiakong community. He promised to be of assistance to them at any time he was called upon.
The newly inaugurated 16-member Mbiakong Youth Organization Exco include the following drawn from the Eight families making up Mbiakong: 1. Mr. Mark, Ene Nyong (Nung Obio Esong Family) – President; 2. Mr. Linus Okon Etim (Isiok Family) – Vice President; 3. Mr. Inem Bassey Etim (Nung Obio Inua) – Secretary General; 4. Miss Imaobong Bassy Asuquo – Treasurer; 5. Mr. Abel Michael, Asuquo (Nung Obio Enyie) – Asst. Secretary; 6. Mr. Godwin Gabriel Okon (Ikot Ndito) – Fin. Secretary; 7. Mr. Richard Archibong Umoh (Nung Obio Enyie) – P. R. O.; 8. Mr. Etim Edem Etim (Ikpa Mbiakong) – Welfare officer; 9. Mr. Bassey Ekpe Bassey (Nung Obio Isor) – Provost and 10. Mr. Anieti Basey Effiong (Nung Obio Inua) – Speaker. Others are 11. Mrs. Victoria Emmanuel Ntong (Nung Obio Isor) – Woman Leader; 12. Mr. Lawrence Bassey Etim (Nung Obio Isor) – Ex Officio I; 13. Mr. Ededet Edet Udo (Ikot Ndito) – Ex Officio II; 14. Mr. Okon Essien Eyoh (Nung Obio Inua) – Ex Officio III; 15. Mr. Nyong Offiong Ekpenyong (Nung Obio Inua) – Ex Officio IV and 16. Mr. Donald Effiom Asuquo (Nung Obio Inua) – Patron.
In his acceptance speech, the Youth President, Mr. Mark Ene Nyong maintained that under his administration, Mbiakong will experience full doses of development and progress and solicited the full co-operation of all the citizens of Mbiakong. High points, of the ceremony include Oath-taking by members and the swearing in-proper.
