Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning Partners Multinational Companies for Human Capacity Dev

The Commissioner, Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning, Prof Victor Daniel Inoka has called for cooperation and partnership with the Directorate of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for human capacity development in the State.

The Commissioner stated this during his courtesy visit to the State Director, Mr. Uduak Obot at the Zonal office of the Akwa Ibom and Cross River States in Eket, Akwa Ibom State. The Commissioner who solicited the assistance of the NCDB for the supports of the Multinational Companies stressed that such synergy was critical for the development of the state, also calling for relocation of the Oil Companies offices working in the Niger Delta regions to the states of their operations, especially in Akwa Ibom state.

Prof. Victor Inoka commended the management the various companies in the state, conveying message of commendation and supports from the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to their organisations for their programmes and partnership with the government. The Commissioner stated that the Governor was committed to the human capacity development in the state, hence, as a step to boost and fast track the realisation of his completion agenda, he created the Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning as a full ministry with the mandate to drive the vision of taking the state industrial development to an enviable height.

Prof. Inoka stated that the Ministry was in the process of creating a data base of the people to allow for proper planning for employment of the citizens among others, and called on NCDB for assistance in such areas, as well as, trainings and employment of the people of the state in the Oil and Gas sector.

Speaking earlier, the State Director of NCDB, Mr. Uduak Obot expressed satisfaction with the Commissioner for coming to identify with the programmes of the Directorate of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). Mr. Obot stated that the NCDMB has recorded impressive achievements in many areas, including partnering with the Multinational Oil Companies to site their operational offices here and domestication of programmes content. He said currently, the NCDMB is facilitating for the employment of about 2500 citizens in various fields of the oil and gas sector.

While expressing the readiness of NCDB to partner the Ministry and the Government of the state, Mr. Obot sues for the necessary supports of government for the success of NCDB. Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. (Mrs.). Valerie Obot commended the Commissioner for embarking on the visit to familiarise himself with the activities and programmes of NCDB, stressing that such visits will immensely assist the ministry for effective planning towards achieving the Ministry’s goals. She thanked the management of NCMB for recording such enviable achievements and contributing to the development of the nation and state silently. In the Commissioner’s entourage were top management staff and members of the Press.
