Ndiya Etok Celebrates Annual Cultural Day

… As traditional leaders charge youths to be coordinated

The long anticipated Ndiya Etok Annual Cultural Day Celebration took a center stage in 2019 with lots of cultural displays and adorable admiration at Ndiya Etok village square recently.

The event witnessed very large turnout of citizens for this year edition as all the villages in Ikono extraction had their representative with colorful Ibibio cultural dresses. The Ndiya Etok cultural day started in 1979 and has continued to gamer and gathered momentum with its sustainability of Ibibio culture in an improved perspective. 

In his valedictory massage, the Village Head of Ndiya Etok, Ettedung Isong Obot Akpaquat who is also the Coordinator, Ikono Local Government Council of Chiefs charged youths to maintain peace and security in their environment as part of individuals social responsibility for peaceful coexistence in the society, “the security and peaceful coexistence in our community begins with us and the youth plays a very important role in this regard because youths are those that can make and Mar”. Chief Isong maintained that government saw the imperative tendencies of youth in today’s world thereby created Ministry of Youths and Sports in other to integrate youths for total development, thereby propelling for a better future. He urged the youths to rise up and grab those opportunities provided for them by government even in their rural environment, “government has made everything possible and ready for you and is only left for you to rise up and take the bull by the horn in a way of perfection, diligent and always inculcating good habit at all times”.

Chief Akpaquat also called on all to be mindful with this year’s general election that is coming up on February 14th by being ready with permanent voter’s card to exercise their franchise by voting whoever they want to be their leader. He called on people not to be deterred irrespective of anything, noted that the will of God will be done as long as the 2019 general elections are concerned.

In an interaction with Century Newsfront, the chairman of 2019 edition of Ndiya Etok culture day celebration, Chief Akpan Usoro expressed gratitude to God for making them to be alive and celebrate their 39 Annual Cultural Day, which according to him, stated since 1979 till date and promised the entire people that 2020 will Mark the 40 years anniversary will be a spicy for the memories to retain.
