…dusts party structure for Udom’s second term in home ward

The Ikono clan born Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Elder Imoh Okon last weekend hosted the people of ward 8 for a new year party in his country home.

The new year party was attended by large crowd comprising his kinsmen, supporters, PDP members and dozens of others known to be members of different opposition parties who are warming up to join the Chairman in PDP.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Imoh Okon recounted the many blessings PDP has poured on the people of ward 8, noting that PDP is the only reliable political party in the state that has what to offer the people of ward 8 starting from quality leaders to dividends of democracy. He said the party from inception has always provided enough rooms to accommodate all its supporters and also took a roll call of PDP beneficiaries in ward 8 and numerous empowerments, projects and achievements of the PDP government from ward to state level.

Briefing the crowd on his one month in office, Imoh Okon said it has been rewarding to the council, the entire people of Uyo and to him as a person, stating that he has tested both odds and even of the council within his first 30 days in office. Further, the Chairman refuted claims by some past Chairmen that there is nothing to enjoy in the office of the Executive Chairman, positing that anybody who said or says such is a liar.

While assuring that he will bring back more dividends of his government to the people of ward 8 and Ikono clan in general, Imoh Okon said PDP government from Local Government to State level has enough to cater for the needs of the people. He said the sure way of enjoying good governance is by supporting PDP, especially as the party is gearing up to return Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term in the 2019 election.

Taking stalk of all party executives, unit coordinators, party elders, women and youth groups, the Chairman charged the Ward Chairman to use the structure which he said was intact to intensify mobilization in the ward for the 2019 general elections. He further charged the people of ward 8 to make the ward a model, stressing that being his home ward, PDP must be more formidable than ever before and however thanked them for always supporting the government of Deacon Udom Emmanuel which he described as people oriented.

He particularly thanked the people of the area for standing by him during the election and vowed to reciprocate the support with good governance. Among those who were at the new year party were the State PDP Vice Chairman, Mr. Nsetip Okon, the Councilor representing ward 8, Hon. Imaobong Umoette, Ward 8 PDP Chairman, Obong Williams and other party stalwarts as well as youth and women groups.
