Newsfront organizes orientation for New Reporters

The Editor-in-Chief of Newsfront Newspapers, Saviour Ekpe staged a-one-day orientation workshop for intended journalist in Uyo on the ethnics of the profession recently.

The exercise, which was held at the Corporate Headquarters of Newsfront Newspapers at 85 Abak Road, Uyo was to further intimate the newly recruited journalists on the nifty gritty of the profession and also to ensure they acquire good writing skills in their reportage. Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Oral Communication charged the fresh graduates on how they could get themselves acquainted by regular and proper use of English language in their day to day activities, “update your English language through constant and regular use of dictionary”.

He however admonished the journalists to ensure that ethics of journalism practice is religiously upheld in their reportage. Though it may be a little cumbersome, continuous practice will enable them get acquainted to it. Further speaking at the event, the Editor challenged the journalists to brace up for the practice as the profession is a very rewarding one.

He stressed on the need to have a little knowledge of everything and to remember that journalists are the eye of the society and should also ensure to discharge their duties with good conscience so as to build a better society. He added that journalism is a noble profession that exposes the practitioners to excellent job opportunities and also exposes them to better connections in life. The organizer of the workshop further intimated participants on the hazards in the profession and also added that this should not intimidate them as there is no profession without hazards.

Interacted with newsmen at the event, one of the participants, Ememobong Effiong appreciated the Managing Director of Oralmedia Communications, Saviour Ekpe for a wonderful work done and promised to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement given at the event. She also added that she has been challenged and will also work towards improving her writing skills.

The event featured seminar presentation, speech and presentation of code of ethics by the Editor to the best reporters. The participants however expressed their appreciation to the organizers for organizing the workshop to sharpen their knowledge.
