The United Niger Delta Youths for Peace and Development (UNDYPD) is set for the graduation of another batch of 310 participants in her life changing Skills development program in Ikot Ekpene senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State. The program which is organized by Sunrise Development International Initiative (SDI), in collaboration with the United Niger Delta Youths for Peace and Development (UNDYPD) has so far graduated about 10,000 participants in various life touching skills, courtesy of the Support of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) His Excellency, Obong Nsima Ekere.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after his arrival at the Akwa Ibom State International Airport from Lagos, the Lagos based lawyer and National President of UNDYPD, Barr. Godspower Nta who was visibly elated said that he was in the state to make preparations for the graduation ceremony of another batch of successful trainees in Ikot Ekpene which is coming up on Saturday 2nd September, 2017 at Lutheran High School Ikot Obong Edong, Ikot Ekpene. He said he was happy about the successes recorded in the Skills Acquisition Program which has so far impacted on the lives of many youths in the state and beyond.
He thanked the President of Sunrise Development International Initiative (SDI), Mr. Sunny Donatus Ntuenibok whom he described as a rock-solid partner of UNDYPD to transform the lives of youths in the State and the Niger Delta region in extension. He said SDI and UNDYPD were in a marriage that have already produced able bodied men, women and youths with greater capacity to contribute to the socio-economic life of the Nation through the skills they have acquired from the program.
He said the participants who have been intensively trained in: catering, interior /outdoor decoration & event management, production of liquid soap, izal, insecticides, Air fresheners & other home use items, paint production, fish farming, beads & Hat making, Fashion & Designing, Saloon Services / make ups braiding, installation of DSTV, MYTV, DAARSAT, Fabrication and Welding, Pluming, Photography & Videography, Health safety and environmental management, computer appreciation, maintenance & repairs of Diesel injector pump & Nozzle, Driving, Fixing of floor & Wall tiles, electrical installation among other skills to support government programs, are in dire need of government support to enable them acquire the necessary equipments to effectively put to use the skills they have acquired from the program.
Barr. Godspower Nta thanked the NDDC Boss His Excellency Obong Nsima Ekere for his tremendous support to the program and to the youths of Akwa Ibom State. He however solicited for more support from the NDDC Boss in the area of provision of equipments to the graduating participants and empowerment of UNDYPD and SDI to help them drive the program to other L.G.A’s and nearby States in the Niger Delta region.
Speaking in a telephone chat with our correspondent, the President of Sunrise Development International Initiative (SDI) Mr. Sunny Donatus Ntuenibok said that he was proud to be associated with UNDYPD to empower youths in the State. He said that his organization started its Pilotage services in the environs of Rivers State in 2010 under the auspices of Patriotism International where over 1000 participants were trained in various skills in its bit to promote sustainable development and contribute to the social-economic development in the country. He said that he was very proud to say that from 2010-2017 his organization has trained about 10,000 participants in various skills through the support of many individuals, and groups, including UNDYPD all to the glory of God. He also appreciated the managing director of NDDC for identifying with UNDYPD and SDI to touch lives in the grassroots.
It can be recalled that the Ikot Ekpene training started on 31st July, 2017, after similar program was concluded in Oron Federal constituency on the 8th of July 2017, which featured the graduation of 320 youths in Oron. The event will witness the graduation of another 310 trainees in a colourful ceremony which will hold at the Lutheran High School, Ikot Obong Edong, Ikot Ekpene L.G.A, by 11:00am.
The participants in the program who are mostly youths are happy with the NDDC Boss, Obong Nsima Ekere and wish him well in all his endeavors. They also appealed to the state government, corporate organizations and well meaning individuals to empower UNDYPD and SDI to continue in their good works which has brought about self sufficiency and economic independence of the youths.
