NSIMA EKERE SALUTES APC

The Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere (ONE) has commended the renewed effort by the party to reconcile aggrieved members and stem the tide of discord within the Party. Ekere made this known at the Akwa Ibom APC Stakeholders meeting which held last Saturday at Vinpy Event Center in Uyo.

Ably represented by his running mate, Dr. Amadu Attai, Ekere chose the occasion to praise party faithful for standing tall in the face of intimidation and political harassment from the State government.

Addressing stakeholders, he expressed profound regrets for his inability to physically attend the meeting and commended the Acting State Chairman Dr. Ita Udosen and his team for convening same. In his message of goodwill, he admonished that “the reconciliation should be holistic and comprehensive, cutting across the Wards and Chapters”.

He said it is his honest expectation that similar effort be directed at rebuilding the party structure whose foundation has been rocked by anti-party forces, defections and deaths. Obong Nsima Ekere thanked the party for the love, affection and massive support extended to him by members of the party.

In his words, “I thank the Party most sincerely for considering me fit enough to bear the Party’s flag in the 2019 elections. In addition, you stood with and supported me fiercely throughout the campaigns, elections and the judicial processes leading up to the Supreme Court. APC may have lost the governorship election but certainly future opportunities are available to the Party. As often said, when one door closes, another opens.

These future opportunities should rekindle our hopes and aspirations as a party. That is the basis for my admonition to the Party to eschew bitterness and acrimony and come together as one indivisible and united entity”.

He commiserated with the Party over the demise of the State Chairman  and former Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Ime Okopido and Elder Emmanuel Ekpenyong (Mandu), respectively and prayed God to comfort their families and grant their souls repose.

Obong Nsima Ekere also used the occasion to congratulate Senator John Udoedehe on his appointment as the National Secretary/Secretary Extra Ordinary Convention Committee of the Party. “I share the joy and celebration of the party on the appointment of our own Pastor Senator John James Udoedehe (Ph.D) as the National Secretary of our great Party. It is delightful that Akwa Ibom APC is currently at the center of the party whose influence on the State has been clearly manifest since assumption of office by Pastor Senator Udoedehe. His singular role in appointment of members into various ad-hoc Committees of the Party is commendable”. Ekere said he was committed to working with all leaders and members of the party to sustain the gains of reconciliation and position it for the challenges ahead.

Speaking further, he said “APC has a lot to offer Akwa Ibom State. We must continually remind ourselves of our promise of a “New Vision For Our Collective Prosperity”. I believe this to be the underlying principle and reason that provides the impetus for our quest for the Hill-top mansion”.

The 2020 Stakeholders meeting which was the first since the last general elections had many prominent members of the Party in attendance. They include Senator John Akpan Udoedehe, Barr. Bassey DanAbia Snr., Mr. Umana Okon Umana, Senator Ita Enang, Obonganwan Dora Ebong, Obonganwan Geraldine Etuk, Hon. Uwem Udoma,  Hon. Effiong Johnson, Engr Benedict Ukpong, Obong Kufre Inyangete, Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hon Patty Etette Inemeh, Engr. Efiok Akpan, Engr. Ita Awak and Barr. Edet Eyo Bassey amongst several others.
