Sokoto State council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, has solicited robust partnership with the newly established News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Sokoto zonal office.
The council chairman, Abdullahi Dalhatu Safiyal-Magori, made the call when he led members of the union’s State Working Committee on a congratulatory visit to the new NAN Sokoto zonal manager, Malam Habibu Harisu. Safiyal-Magori, who described the appointment of Malam Habibu Harisu as the zonal manager as well deserved, urged him to entrench NAN’s tentacles on enhancing coverage of the states under his jurisdiction.
He enjoined NAN staff to continue displaying high sense of professionalism and commitment to duty as the agency is being recognised globally. Malam Habibu Harisu, while appreciating the union leaders for the solidarity visit, solicited increased support from media outfits as they are NAN clients in building confidence in the states.
“The Sokoto office compromising Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states was established alongside five others in Akure, Owerri, Asaba, Maiduguri and Minna for administrative convenience, effectiveness and increased coverage,” he said.
