Over 385 Civil Servants Trained On ICT Receive Certificates

387 civil servants trained on ICT by the Akwa Ibom State Government were on Monday, presented with the certificates of participation.

Performing the ceremony at the ICT Resource Centre of his office, the Accountant General of Akwa Iborn State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien said the gesture is to ensure that civil servants; in the State are computer compliant.

Pastor Andrew-Essien, who maintained that the computer has become part of everyday life, stressed the need for all civil servants to have a fair knowledge of computer since according to him the world is driven by technology.

The Accountant General expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for keeping faith with the training, despite the dwindling economy occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic. He challenged the participants to make the best use of the knowledge acquired during the training to increase productivity.

The Director ICT, Office of the Accountant General, Mr, Sunday Udioko stated that phones, laptops are all computer-driven devices and congratulated the participants for being part of the evolution.

Mr. Udioko advised the participants to ensure that you should not only pass through the civil service, but civil service should also pass through you” and thanked the Accountant General for providing the enabling environment for the training of civil servants in the State.

Setting the tone for the event, the Consultant and Managing Director, NIMESI Systems, Mr. Etangese Isemin said increased in productivity should be the priority of every civil servant “Gone are the days where having good retentive memory was the main advantage in being smart, today, knowing how to use Tech tools is the new smart”.

While challenging the participants to make conscious decisions to invest in productivity technology, Mr. Isemin thanked Akwa Ibom State Government for the opportunity given him to contribute his quota towards the growth of the Civil Service.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of certificates to participants by the Accountant General, where he announced cash donations to the best three graduating students.
