Polytechnic is an institution of higher learning with the major objective of training young men and women with various vocations and skills to contribute to the development of society. A polytechnic would enable one to acquire practical knowledge of training on the basic level. Polytechnic education offers its graduate job both in the private and public sectors of the economy especially in the fields of engineering, technology, banking and finance, health, commerce and industry.
This is where Peace institute of management and technology, PIMT (Peace Poly) located in Mbarakom, kilometer four, Abak Ikot Abasi road, near Ibagwa, the military cantonment Stands tall in the comity of Higher Institutions in Nigeria because, aside from the regular academic activities and programmes, the school management deemed it fit to offer a yearly scholarship to students across the state.
Peace Polytechnic apart from sponsoring so many football tournaments in the neighbouring communities is the only private polytechnic in the state that offers scholarships to the less privileged students. Licensed and accredited by the Federal Ministry of Education and listed in JAMB brochure is partnering with Reputable Universities and polytechnics in Nigeria and outside Nigeria to ensure the effective educational qualification of its graduates, institutions such as HIPDET University, Cameroon; Nigeria Teachers Institute; University of Port Harcourt etc. the institution offers Admission for National Diploma (ND); Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE); Higher National Diploma (HND); Bachelor for Science (B.Sc); Bachelor in Education (B.Ed); Masters in Science, Education in various fields of endeavours as well as in Arts and also Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Management, Administration, Science And Engineering related courses.
Speaking to our Reporter, the district Superintendent of Mount Zion Light House Full Gospel Church, Mbarakom District, Apostle Udeme Dick Akai Commended the management of the institution for sitting the school at Mbarakom and thanked the community for giving the school a conducive environment to carry out academic activities without any form of molestation.
Apostle Akai, himself the Emeritus President of Students Union Government (SUG) of the Polytechnic who described the school as a perfect academic alternative to students of the area to access education who may not have the opportunity to go to school outside their community said the scholarship programme of the school is second to none, advised students of the area to take advantage of the scholarship programme to further their education.
Apostle Akai who also the chairman, Mbarakom for Christ commended the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Peace Udosen for floating the scholarship scheme, which according to him, has helped many less privileged children of the community in particular and the state in general to further their education.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Mbarakom Village Council, Obong Nathaniel Okon Udoh said that he cannot stop thanking the Rector of Peace Polytechnic and the school management, for the help and Assistance they have been offering to the society and the less privileged especially, some of his community members who gained a scholarship to the school and that they are doing very well.
Obong Udoh expressed his gratitude to Almighty God and the PIMT management towards the scholarship project that has been taking place in his community and other neighbouring villages. The royal father particularly appreciated the Rector, Prof. Akparawa Peace Udosen for his Good heart towards the less privileged and Academic support he has been offering from nursery, primary to higher institution levels.
It is also gathered that time table for this year scholarship exams are slated for Saturday 24th July, 2021 by [email protected] Polytechnic Auditorium Mbarakom, Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom State and Saturday 31st July, 2021 by 10:[email protected]’s International Schools Ibiaku Ishiet Uruan LGA, Akwa Ibom State respectively.
